TMC Research
The Movement Cooperative is a locus of data and technology for the progressive movement, and our dedicated Research team is uniquely positioned to drive high-impact inquiry and answers. Our shared infrastructure across our membership, technological and research expertise, and deep relationship with members and vendors enables powerful experimentation and learning across the movement.
Since our inception, we’ve partnered with members, movement partners, and the wider progressive ecosystem on dozens of research projects. In the past year alone, that work has included three award-winning initiatives. Some of our most distinctive research focuses on identifying metrics to inform the long-term power-building, called Pathways to Power. The Pathways framework was first published in 2022. A second-phase publication, our Implementing Metrics for Base Building and Leadership Development toolkit, was published in 2025.
TMC’s ongoing search for innovative organizing and voter contact platforms reflects our commitment to member-guided tech investments.
Movement Projects
We launched a next-generation voter contact CRM search in 2025 to help the progressive movement take greater ownership of the technology that fuels our organizing. After launching our request for proposals, we undertook a vigorous, member-led evaluation process to identify platforms that can best meet our movement’s needs, with a focus on values alignment, adaptable product development, feature innovation, and scalability. We’ll share more updates about the progress of this project and new milestones we’re on track to achieve this year.
CSC 2025 featured seven distinct learning tracks where attendees could focus on increasing their capacity and specialized skillsets, including a hands-on Hackathon track.
Community & Events
Members build relationships, share ideas, and develop professionally through working groups, shared governance responsibilities, and our flagship events like Changemaker Skills Camp (CSC) and The Movement Conference. CSC is a multi-day learning experience built by and for movement staff and volunteers to grow skills, deepen strategy, and build community across the progressive ecosystem. At our inaugural camp in 2024, more than 250 individuals representing over 88 organizations joined us in Atlanta and online. In 2025, we welcomed over 300 attendees to Milwaukee for a vibrant learning opportunity that brought our movement together at a time when community was more needed than ever.
